Halloween Movie Favorites

Hi, Daisies!

It's October, and you know what that means... SPOOKY SEASON! Throughout October, who doesn't love to curl up and watch some Halloween movies, I know its one of my favorite things to do throughout this month. I wrote out and listed my 10 favorite Halloween movies to watch throughout this month, starting with my least favorite to my #1 favorite Halloween movie. Now, I do not like scary movies (yes I'm 5) I like the ones that won't give me nightmares.

10) Dark Shadows

Just a heads up, this movie is STRANGE, but I love it because Johnny Depp is in it playing the main character Barnabas. Taking place in Maine, starting in the 18th century, playboy Barnabas falls in love with Angelique, a witch. When Barnabas breaks her heart she is so upset that she turns him into a vampire and buries him "alive". We then flash forward to 1972, when during construction his tomb is opened and Barnabas is able to escape only to find everything has changed, including his grand estate.

9) Coraline

Who hasn't seen this amazing movie, this stop-motion clay film took over 18months to photograph/film. Coraline moves to a boring town, to a boring apartment, with some strange neighbors and some unwanted friends. While exploring her new home she finds a door, and when she crawls in meets her other-mother who has some strange attributes. She falls in love with this other realm, but when they want her to stay forever must brave it all to bring back her family and everything she called home.

8) The Haunted Mansion

I love the ride, so obviously I love the movie, especially with Eddie Murphy playing in it. Being a workaholic, Jim, played by Eddie, is accused by his wife of being more focused on work and neglecting his kids and wife. So what better way to bring the family together than with a vacation, but along the way Jim stops to look at a house, he needs to sell. Only to discover that it's haunted and he needs to break a curse to save his family.

7) Rocky Horror Picture Show

Okay, Dark Shadows is a strange movie, but this one is even more strange. Basically, in its simplest form, A couple's car breaks down and stumbles upon a large castle where they ask to use a phone, but within the walls is the strange owner and some strange friends. I am just going to link the youtube fan trailer below, hopefully, that might give you more insight into what this movie is about.

6) Hocus Pocus

This is probably one of the most iconic Halloween movies out there, and I'm guessing you have probably seen it and love it. If you haven't, here is the synopsis of the movie... After moving to Salem Massachusetts, Max and his little sister decide to explore an abandoned home in the woods with a new friend. But when Max frees a coven of evil witches, they must steal the witches' book and save the children of Salem with the help of some new and unlikely friends.

5) Boo! A Madea Halloween

Tyler Perry, undoubtedly one of the best writers and actors out there. After sneaking out once, Brian, Madea's nephew, asks Madea to watch his daughter Tiffany, which she agrees. Madea brings along Joe and others to come over and watch Tiffany, but to go to another party Tiffany scares the gang with a series of pranks and Madea soon finds herself having the scariest night of her life.

4) The Addams Family Values

With the arrival of a new baby, Gomez and Morticia are hiring a new nanny to watch their 3 kids, since the oldest 2 are not keen on the new arrival. But soon after they realize this new nanny is up to something and brings on an unexpected twist.

3) The Nightmare Before Christmas

Tim Burtons is one of my favorite creative directors in the world, his stories are compelling, creative, and dark. In this film, When the town's beloved Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, become bored with the same old Halloween things. On a walk to clear his thoughts he stumbles upon some doors and enters Christmastown where he soon falls in love with this new holiday. By kidnapping Santa Clause he decides to take over chistmas and sood discovers this might have gone terribly wrong.

2) Corpse Bride

Another Tim Burton Film, that is amazing, and even better, also casts Johnny Depp. In this film, when Victors parents arrange a wedding to Victoria, he soon becomes very nervous and heads out for a walk. While in the forest, practicing his vows and soon is dragged to the land of the dead where he meets this dragger, Emily. Emily was murdered and is looking for someone to spend the rest of her life with, this someone being Victor. But, Victor must get back above ground to stop Victoria from marrying the strange and cruel Barkis Bittern.

1) Beetle Juice

Probably one of my favorite movies of all time, and another Tim Burton film. When Barbra and Adam die in a car accident, they find themselves haunting their home, which now has some new inhabitants. Unsuccessfully, the two can't seem to scare this new family away, but become friends with the newcomers daughter, who is the only one who can see them. In an attempt to get this family out the couple seeks the help of Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton, whose help quickly becomes dangerous and unwanted.

I hope you enjoyed this list of Halloween movies! Please share your Halloween movie favorites on our Facebook page!
